Guideline for Presenters
ORAL PRESENTATIONS
Each oral presentation will have a slot of 15 minutes (unless differently defined for symposia). Please prepare your talk to be 12 minutes long as a maximum, to allow time for questions and comments from the audience. You are kindly asked to bear in mind this time limit, as a form of respect for both colleagues and organizers.
(Be aware that the audience will consist of participants from various fields in vision research; therefore, prepare your talk to be understandable also for those who are not particularly familiar with your specific field of interest).
Presentation
Option A – Bring a USB (strongly encouraged)
Bring your presentation as a PowerPoint or PDF file on a USB Flash Drive. Deliver it to the person in charge (chair or symposium organizer) inside the appropriate lecture hall during the break, at least 15 minutes before the beginning of the session so there is enough time to transfer and test it.
Option B – Bring your own laptop (discouraged)
Should you need your own laptop for a specific reason (e.g., particular movies/animations), please inform the person in charge (chair or symposium organizer) as soon as possible. Make sure to bring your own adapter, and to arrive in your lecture hall 15/20 minutes before the beginning to test the connection with the projector. Note that the time for switching laptops will be deducted from your speaking time!
POSTERS
The maximum size for posters is 115cm (height) x 90cm (width). Materials for affixing posters will be available; please do not use any other tape or glue.
The ECVP 2018 will have an original format for poster sessions: an entire day (Tuesday 28th) dedicated to this kind of presentations. There will be four poster sessions: two in the morning (Session 1 and 2) and two in the afternoon (Session 3 and 4), with approximately 130 posters per session. Each poster has a code indicating the board number (from 1 to 266) and when it will be exposed (M = morning; A = afternoon).
Morning. The posters of Session 1 and Session 2 can be affixed starting from 8.00 and can stay on until 12.45. The posters with odd numbers will be presented in the Session 1 (8.30-10.30); those with even numbers in the Session 2 (10.45-12.45).
Afternoon. The posters of Session 3 and Session 4 can be affixed starting from 12.45 and can stay on until 17.15. The posters with odd numbers will be presented in the Session 3 (13.00-15.00); those with even numbers in the Session 4 (15.15-17.15).
We kindly ask each presenter to respect the time allotted for the presentation, in order to avoid overlapping with “board neighbours”.
